I am aware that these were all somebody's grandmothers and grandfathers and aunts and uncles and mothers and fathers but goddamn, this is one of the creepiest websites I have ever seen.
I'm the one that created that site, but I have to admit that I got a pretty good laugh over your comment. I guess it would seem a little creepy if you didn't understand the context of what it is. Most of those photos are over 100 years old and a number of those people were born before the Civil War. In fact one of them fought in that war. That's probably the way most regular folks looked around the 1890's, but to me that's one of the things that makes it interesting and unique. It was a good line though, I'm still laughing about it.
author : Thanks for taking it in a sporting spirit. I meant no disrespect. It's just that the pictures creeped me out. But what you are saying is pretty interesting and thanks for providing the context behind the pictures. When you come to think of it it's pretty amazing that we can actually look at the faces of people who lived several generations ago. What is your motivation behind maintaining a website of these pictures, if you don't mind me asking?
Actually, I don't even consider it a real website. It's just a simple photo blog to have a convenient way to show the pictures to any of my relatives that might be interested. As you probably know, genealogy is a popular hobby and old photos are a part of that when you're lucky enough to have them.
