Presidential Address

My facial muscles are gradually uncringing themselves. They suffered severe trauma through the past 8 years from watching Ex-President Dufus try to speak in public. Some doctors said the damage was permanent and that I would not be able to appear in photographs any more. Some said to try cheek yoga. Others suggested nuzzling an elephant. Nothing seemed to work. And a baby elephant in the Philadelphia zoo will probably turn into a man-eater when he grows up.

But after watching yesterday's presidential address, I could feel my muscles beginning to relax. They are still a long ways off from assuming a normal expression, though. For now, everybody needs to stop getting offended. I'm not cringing at you. I have just forgotten how it feels not to be disgusted.

I was getting really annoyed by Pelosi. Every other minute, regardless of what Obama said she was springing up from her chair and clapping vigorously. I'm sure Biden was getting pretty annoyed too, since he had to follor her lead all the time. God i felt like slapping here

Yes, Pelosi was very enthusiastic about getting up. Once, she was about to get up and her ass barely left the seat, but no one else got up so she sat back down, but then she kept looking at the audience hoping somebody would get up and somebody got up so she got up as well. All this happened in 3 seconds.

I think Biden and Pelosi were fighting in the background. They kept whispering to each other and looked like they were smiling but I think they were doing mother sister to each other.

Yeah he was probably mothering / sisitering her about getting up every second

I can totally relate to your reaction to the new president. It still takes me some time to register the fact that the White House is a good place , the VP is no longer evil and the 'government' is not a dirty word. I am liking this unlearning process.

I still cant watch Fox news for more that 5 minutes.

Man, I stumbled upon your blog yesterday and I read about 30 odd posts since then because the blog's really good. You seem intelligent so let me warn you: Don't get brainwashed by Obama's grand speeches! Here's what has been executed so far:
http://s-kar.blogspot.com/2009/02/fat-boy-and-fat-man-twin-bombs-on.html
http://s-kar.blogspot.com/2009/02/dear-stupid-obama-maniacs-of-india.html

But I know its hard to wipe the Obama-mania out of someone. So I rest my case. In case you are really interested in someone intelligent: See Ralph Nader! (Just for the fun of it, though he'll never win in this two-party land)

Keep blogging, I'm adding a feed.

Meenu : Why would you turn Fox News on in the first place?

Karthik : There's your problem right there. The fact is, I only seem intelligent but I am not. That is why I was the first to succumb to this Obama-mania disease. I keep wanting to immolate myself just to see him smile at the flames. Sometimes I wake up early and cook breakfast for him, thinking he's going to visit me but he never does. I never wash his plates. I bury them.

By the way, your posts don't make it clear whether you are for the stimulus or against, whether you are for tax cuts or against, whether you are for building good roads and combating climate change or against, whether a stimulus is better than tax cuts or the other way round.

My only point? It's good to have an American leader who doesn't spout gibberish on camera.

Rukmani : That was a real complaint dammit. Why haven't they sent someone yet?

Raam Pyari : No doubt they are turning in their graves as we speak. I should read the book.

gawker, what did you think about Jindal's walk(being an expert about the topic and all)?

gawker said...

Unfortunately I didn't see Jindal's speech and his walk. I did see excerpts of his speech though. I'm not sure who he was talking to....America or his children.

I'm usually not one to racially profile but Jindal kinda walks like Babu Bhatt from Seinfeld. Plus it's not racial profiling if it's my own race.
